Carl: The 1-1 point gives white 2 points of territory but with sente he can reduce Black by 1 point of territory locally. So locally 1-1 and 1-4 can have equal points. Globally 1-1 will be better where there are moves worth more than 1 point reverse sente. 1-4 is only better in a very unlikely ko master situation.
Carl: Please check again. The 1-1 point is actually the best move. It is superior because White can take sente starting at the 1,1. At worst case it has the same points as starting at the 1,4 point. Please check this reddit post for a discussion of the problem https://www.reddit.com/r/baduk/comments/ezq693/white_to_play_the_best_endgame_why_is_a19_wrong/
Farkas: The 1-1 point is 2 points for W, while the 1-4 is 3 points (after B1-5, W must defend if doesn't want a ko). 3 is more than 2, they are not the same even in the worst case. Simply locally speaking 1-1 is one point less. (In endgame problems usually one has to live with the most points.) In term of sente, 1-1 could be better, though. I agree with Robert, the correct answer depends on global context. Therefore I changed A1 to correct solution, too.
Carl: starting with the 1,1 gives the same amount of points, when you consider the push at 4,1 point as final move (2 points inside and reducing opponent by 1 point)
Farkas: I disagree with your comment. You didn't count the prisoners.
