    Technically, removing the opponent's stones from the board would involve winning a ko (if the opponent resisted in such a way that the attacker would't get two eyes for the inside group). It's a ko that the opponent cannot win, because the attacker's inside group has an eye (in the right answer) and cannot be approached in order to capture them. If the opponent were to fight the ko just to delay, they would have a finite amount of threats anyway and would eventually run out of them. The opponent's stones are thus dead. The hint "no ko" should be understood to refer to any ko that could actually be disputed over.
