Ellie Spohr: The original problem in the book doesn't even go past block correct bamboo joint wrong. Why have you guys made such a crappy ambiguous "problem" out of the original when there are so many valid lines of play (which of course are all marked wrong here)!
John: This problem is wrong. According to modern AI and josekipedia.org, after D5E5E4, the main moves are C7 and E3, none of which is marked as correct one. This leads to B's C6 group straggling for life on the first line and E4 group being under heavy attack. In this variations G6 stone does participate in the variations, but is far not in the optimal position.
TwT: Dear John,
You make an excellent point. There are indeed several issues, particularly regarding joseki and fuseki problems, that can be considered "incorrect" in light of advancements in AI. While it's easy to label them as "wrong," the real challenge lies in addressing and revising these established concepts. Who will take on the task of this necessary overhaul?
Best regards.
