caranthir: @SkaterStan Automatically generating tsumego solutions is kind of interesting question. The thing is, only a minor part of a typical problem tree consists of the necessary correct moves themselves, the major part being refuting or resisting moves and in turn possible responses to them. Good resisting moves are often, theory-wise, just stupid and points-losing, but demonstrate insights of the shape in question, and test that the solver actually knows why some move works or not. It's difficult to imagine how something like a DCNN could be trained to efficiently generate these, at least unsupervised. (Or maybe it could and I just lack imagination.) ***** On the other hand, implementing the simple functionality of optional "suboptimal solution"-leaves in a problem tree, and modifying some limited amount of applicable problems to include these would not sound so taxing. Still I'd imagine that over time, as more and more problems would inevitably be modified in this fashion, the complexity of maintaining/correcting the body of problems on this site could nonetheless increase quite a bit; perhaps too much.
semelis: Starting with N1 wastes a local ko threat, so the right solution is to start with R1.
Could it be implemented that this kind of solutions (living with less than optimal territory, losing sente, or wasting ko threats) give half the XP and a message to look for the optimal solution and the rest of the XP ?
caranthir: Leaving your question to the developer, I want just to point out that R1 is only a co-optimal solution, so to speak; there is even a ko-less way to live (mentioned by GoDave89 beneath; if you don't read German, consider yourself not spoiled on the answer). As it's seki, in an actual game and depending on the position, one could still opt for ko.
GoDave89: Man kann hier ohne ko leben
wR2, bR1, wM1!
Schwarz kann dann die Ecke zu einem Seki machen, aber die Tatsache, dass schwarz nicht wie bei N1 (statt M1) den Block of M1 bekommt verhindert hier das Ko
Ko solutions should not be marked as correct when corner can live outright.
