Ivan Detkov: Personally, I am not reading much when I solve ladders (with important but rare exceptions). I am just using notion of "unavoidable". This way of thinking is very effective to solve any problems. It is also effective in a real game. I made many good moves just because I feel like I lose if I move differently.
posetcay: That method is effective for solving the problem, but it is good reading exercise to try to read to ladder as far as possible before making first move.
Vincible: Curiosity question for stronger players - are you really able to read the whole sequence, instead of just clicking it through? Even if this is a one-way ladder, after making hundred or so moves it seems impossible to me to track everything and actually be sure that I've read it in advance.
caranthir: I'd be interested to know that too. My thinking has been that not many people are expected to read every problem in this collection 100 %. It's ok just to try reading as far as possible, and besides to have some fun with ladders.
